Patchboard

How It Works

How Patchboard scans and reviews your dependencies

Scanning

When you sync a project, Patchboard:

  1. Fetches your package.json from GitHub
  2. Checks every dependency against the npm registry
  3. Compares current vs latest versions using semver
  4. Flags major version bumps separately

Review Workflow

Each outdated package can be:

  • Approved — included in the next pull request
  • Snoozed — skipped for now, stays in your list

Pull Requests

When you click Open PR, Patchboard:

  1. Creates a new branch on your repository
  2. Updates package.json with all approved versions
  3. Opens a pull request — ready for you to review and merge

Automated Scans

Pro users get automated weekly scans every Monday morning with an email digest summarising outdated packages across all their repos.
