How It Works
How Patchboard scans and reviews your dependencies
Scanning
When you sync a project, Patchboard:
- Fetches your
package.jsonfrom GitHub - Checks every dependency against the npm registry
- Compares current vs latest versions using semver
- Flags major version bumps separately
Review Workflow
Each outdated package can be:
- Approved — included in the next pull request
- Snoozed — skipped for now, stays in your list
Pull Requests
When you click Open PR, Patchboard:
- Creates a new branch on your repository
- Updates
package.jsonwith all approved versions - Opens a pull request — ready for you to review and merge
Automated Scans
Pro users get automated weekly scans every Monday morning with an email digest summarising outdated packages across all their repos.
